Pawas is a prime spiritual place in Ratnagiri district due to a very long stay of Swami (saint) Swaroopanand. Swami Swaroopanand was a follower of Warkari Sampraday ( Tradition).
Pawas came into the limelight after it was chosen by Swami Swaroopanad for his ashram.
