Akshardham temple is an important tourist destination of India. Akshardham Temple is located 31 km away from Ahmedabad in Gandhi Nagar, Gujrat.
Swaminarayan Akshardham is a large Hindu temple complex inspired by Pramukh Swami, the current spiritual head of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha.
The temple is dedicated to Lord Swaminarayan and provided with one of the best architectures in India.

The Temple was built over 13 years and is a tribute to Swaminarayan and his life and teachings.
At the center of the 23-acre complex is the Akshardham mandir, which is built from 6,000 metric tons of pink sandstone from Rajasthan.
More than 12 million man-hours of 900 skilled craftsmen have created this magnificent monument of 93 sculpted pillars, 40 windows carved from both sides.
The complex’s name refers to the divine abode of Swaminarayan in the BAPS philosophy.
Apart from that, the complex of the temple also holds a garden, lake and a waterfall that increases the beauty of this amazing monument.
At the centre of the spacious Akshardham complex, is a delicate and beautiful architectural masterpiece, the Akshardham Monument, which enshrines the golden idol of Swaminarayan, the founder of the Swaminarayan Faith.
The first floor galleries house a museum portraying the 500 ‘paramhansas’, and several things belonging to Swaminarayan such as his letter to the guru Ramanand, a piece from an old tree from Chapaya, his pure wool shawl, a replica of his old home and other displays.

Timings:-
The Temple remains open on all the days except Mondays from 9:30 am - 7:30 pm.
On Saturdays and Sundays, the temple is glorified with the magnificent lighting from it all sides.
Exhibitions are open for public from 10am to 6pm on all the open days.
