Todgarh Raoli Wildlife Sanctuary - Rajasthan

Todgarh Raoli Wildlife Sanctuary is the most unexplored  Wildlife sanctuary in Rajasthan.
It is spread in area of Ajmer, Pali and Rajsamand districts of Rajasthan,theTodgarh-Rawali Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1983. 

It occupies about 495 km2 of tropical deciduous forests and grassland.

Geographically the area of Sanctuary is a land contrast of, the with river, valleys, dense forests and sandy plains overlooking by Hill of Rajsamand.
The famous historian Colonel James Tod, renowned writer of “Annals and Antiquities of Rajputana” stayed at the
palace named after “TODGARH” by the British’s.

Major wildlife includes leopard,wild boar,chinkara, common langur, sloth bears and Indian wolf.

The British Colonel Tod when he came to this place was so enchanted by the aura of this place that he founded this small village. 
He built church,jail,post office,and other buildings.One of his residence building covered into Jain temple known as Pragya Shikhar

Pragya Shikhar :- A Jain monument has been developed by restoring old bungalow of Bishop in Todgarh. A single piece of granite stone which is one of the largest in world has been fixed here used & Lord Mahavir have been described on it.

He spend here for 20 Years and did his history written here.
Todgarh,is a picturesque town in the Aravallis,the oldest mountain range of the world. It is 2181 feet above sea level and is original name was Boraswara

In early times, nomadic tribes like the Banjaras and Gurjars inhabited this area. Todghar formed a part of Merwara.

Todgarh-Raoli Wildlife Sanctuary, situated amidst the oldest mountain range of aravallis, is representative of typical Aravallian flora ana alluring fun of this most versatile ecosystem of the state of Rajasthan. 

Flora:- Featured by northern tropical dry deciduous forest and the lower altitude are influenced by Dhok tree whereas higher altitude is influenced by Khirni, Bamboo, Siris, Salar, Godal, Holeoptelia with many seasonal flowering plants like Butea.

Fauna:- The sanctuary has a booming population of Sloth Bears and Leopards with more number of Grey Jungle Fowls along with various species of birds and reptiles like tortoise. In addition, wild species like Wolf, Striped Hyena, Civets, Jackal, Blue Bull, Sambar, Chinkara and reptiles like Python, Indian Cobra, Indian Krait, Water Snake, Russel?s Viper.

Best time to Visit:- Early April is a good time to visit this sanctuary.

How To Go:-



Ajmer has the nearest railway station which is placed at a distance of 120 KM.



Sanctuary connects to national highway 8 at a distance of 6 KM away.
