Saras Baug Ganpati - Pune

Once There was a small lake like water stream Ambhil Odha at the foothills of Parvati.
In 1750 Peshwa Nanasaheb constructed a lake admeasuring 25 acres was excavated at the site with provisions for an island, having an area of 25000 sq.feet.He gave the name "SarasBaug".
The island was to be converted into an garden, for the recreation of the Peshwas.

Within an island in the middle where the Peshwa rulers were said to hold their strategic discussions.


In 1784, Shrimant Sawai Madhavrao Peshwa built a small temple in Sarasbaug and installed the idol of Shree Siddhivinayak Gajanan.

Today, there is a garden with a Siddhivinayak Ganesh temple in the middle. 

 Next to it, there is a small Ganesh museum, containing various idols of the Lord Ganesh.

Entrance is free.

In 1950, the temple administration was handed over to a public trust known as the Devedeveshwar temple trust. The Temple's Atmosphere is cool and calm.
